|Tawny Underwood (Second in from the Left) | Women’s Boxing Coach
Tawny entered a boxing gym for the first time when she was a junior in high school – a time when she was shy and lacked confidence. After throwing her first punch, she knew she was hooked. She found that not only were her punches getting stronger and quicker, but her confidence outside of the ring grew stronger, too. Tawny finally came out of her shell and that was an amazing feeling. Boxing changed her entire life.
Now she has the opportunity to share a sport that helped her in so many ways. For her, there is no better feeling than teaching a woman how to throw a proper punch and seeing “that look” on her face – that woman is working out AND having fun at the same time. That was Tawny the first time she hit the pads.
Tawny finds it rewarding to help women achieve their fitness goals through a fun and empowering sport like boxing. She takes the time to teach the proper technique and adapt to each of her student’s skill levels – Tawny doesn’t teach boxing classes for the sole purpose of burning calories. Not only do her students work up a sweat and work toward their fitness goals, they learn skills they can use.
