Member Spotlight : Aaron Crater

For our third Member Spotlight of 2025, we’re thrilled to feature Aaron Crater!

1.   What do you like about training? How has it helped you in your day to day life?

What I enjoy most about training, is that every day I train, I’m giving myself the opportunity to be better than I was the day before.

In my day-to-day life, training has surprisingly made me more personable and has helped me build greater confidence in pursuing my goals. I attribute this growth to me witnessing how much I’ve achieved and progressed in just two years as a combat sports athlete with PSE.

2.   What do you like about training at PSE?

I like the people who make up the environment, my coaches and teammates. I agree with Sophia’s Spotlight comment about the genuine care that each member and coach shares for one another. Additionally, I really appreciate the high level of technical detail each coach brings to their teachings. They guide and teach in a way that ensures you’re always improving, no matter your skill level. It creates a supportive and challenging atmosphere that helps me grow both in and outside of the gym.

3.   What advice would you give others who are just starting out?

Whether you’re looking to participate in combat sports recreationally or competitively, my biggest piece of advice is to stay patient and consistent. Progress might feel slow at first, but every small improvement adds up over time. Focus on improving the fundamentals, listen to your coaches and don’t be afraid to make mistakes; that’s where the real growth happens. Most importantly, try to enjoy the adjustment process and the journey itself, and remember why you started in the first place.

4.   What are your hobbies/interests outside of training?

I’m really a homebody but I guess I enjoy nature walks. I’m EMPLOYED, so my hobbies list is short. Is working out a hobby or a duty?

5.   What are your combat sports goals?

My goals are simple, I look to continue to improve by working hard through training. We’ll see how far it takes me as I continue to compete.
